What is the rhetorical situation of this advertisement:
The rhetorical situation of this advertisement is that Han Solo is trying to get the attention of princess Laya but she is obviously distracted by another man, in this picture it is a Ewok.
Audience? The audience could be perceived as a younger age group considering it is from Lego, but the movie Star Wars is an older film and the relationship between the characters is almost too complex for any young age group. So this particular Lego add is targeting older people.
Purpose? The purpose of this add is to sell Lego's and/or to promote Lego products including movies and video games.
Mode? The mode of this is visual
Media? The media is digital
Rhetorical Appeals? The rhetorical appeals of this add are both ethos and logos. Ethos because it channels that audiences emotions of Han Solo and him constantly chasing after princess Laya.
Style & Design? The style and design of this media is specific to the Lego brand. The Lego symbol is red and the background of this picture is red. They also use red as the background because red is the color of love and that is part of whats going on in this media.
How would you remediate this? The only way i would change this advertisement is by adding a minimal amount of movement that repeats itself such as a Gif or a very short movie but with no sound. I feel like Lego is very rarely simple in their advertisements but considering that they are trying to target an older audience a simplistic design is more appealing to the audience they are trying to target.
